Man on a Mission

By Dave Dedrick, OMS missionary in Mozambique

António Nacuatiana is one of the newest Every Community for Christ (ECC) trainers in Mozambique, responsible for training church planters and leaders. About two years ago, António heard about Bible studies being led by a man named Dinis 150 miles away from his home in Mocuba in the district of Gurue. (Dinis is a graduate of OMS’ Maputo Biblical Seminary) António wanted to know more. So, he wrote Dinis a letter, asking him to come. However, in his fervor, António forgot to include his contact information. Dinis began to pray for this unknown man.

Undeterred, António had such a hunger to know more about God that he sold his bicycle and used the money to take a bus from Mocuba to Gurue in search of this man of God. António and his wife, Theresa, arrived in Gurue, staying with relatives as they searched for Dinis. God quickly brought them together, and they immediately began a time of daily Bible study. António accepted Christ as his personal Savior and returned home to begin planting churches. He was accepted into OMS’ ECC program in January of 2008 as a trainer, and to date, he has shared with his friends, relatives and neighbors. He has also initiated more than 40 new churches, gathering a group of men around him that are sharing in his passion to tell the story of lives transformed by our living Lord.
